Kedarnath

Gangotri is a small town and located in Uttarkashi district in the state of Uttarakhand state. Gangotri is a hindu pilgrim site situated at an altitude of 3042m. The temple was built by a Gorkha Commander in 18th century. The river originates from the Gangotri glacier and known as Bhagirathi river. Gangotri is one of the four site of chardham and second point of yatra. Gangotri temple is most important temple of Goddess Ganga. Every year thousands of Devotees worshipped the Goddess Ganga. The hill station is famous for Shivalinga. The temple is opened last Week of April or first week of May to tillsecond week of November. you can enjoy the rainfall during the Winter season.

Gangotri is a perfact place to enrapture in the serenity and sanctity as the place has a picturesque landsape with the snow clad himalayan located in the vicinity.

Gangotri is also the starting points for some trek routes like Tapovan , Bhojwasa, Gaumukh, Gangani, Gangotri, Gangotri National Park, Shivling peak etc. The other attraction is around Gangotri town are Gangotri Temple, Bhagirathi Shila, Pandava Gufa, Tapovan, Bhairon Ghati, The Gaumukh Glacier and the submerged Shivalinga.

Gaumukh Glacier is the source of Bhagirathi River which is also known as Ganga River before the Confluence with Alaknanda at Devprayag. situated at a distance of 18 kms from Gangotri. Gaumukh is 30 kms in length and Approximately 3 to 4 km wide. It is the source of the Bhagirathi River which is one of the most important tributary of the sacred Ganga River. Gangotri temple is an important pilgramage place of the Hindus.

Best Time to Visit Badrinath

Summer season: The season starts from April to till May. During the season weather is very plesent and Maximum temprature is not above the 30c But night is very cold. Summer is the best time to visit or sightseeing.

Winter season: November to March is freezing cold found in Gangotri. during the season snowfall here. The Gangotri temple is colsed during the season because of weather is extremely cold.

Monsoon Season: During the seasons Heavy Rainfall falls here. Monsoon is starts from July to August . During August the Wather is warm.


Places to Visit in Badrinath

Harsil: Harsil is famous among the tourist for famous seeking destination. Harsil is a small village and situated on the bank of Bhagirathi River at an elevationof 2,620 m above the sea level. Dense Deodar Forest, Water of Bhagirathi River, Chirping birds, cool environment and Apple trees are the highlights of the beautiful destination.

Jalmagna Shivlinga: Jalmagna Shivlinga is a famous Shivling which remains immersed in the Gongotri During Summer season. It is the main attraction of Gangotri. This temple is visible only during the winter season and Lord Shiva held the river Ganga in his matted locks.

Gaumukh: River Ganga is get its water from Gaumukh, Gaumukh is 19 km from Gangotri and situated at a height of 12,960ft. Take an Easy trek to reach Gaumukh.

Gangotri Temple: The temple of Gangotri built by Gorkha commander Amar Sing Thapa. This is the 300 year old shrine. Gangotri temple was renovated by jaipur king in the 19th century. The height of the temple is 20ft and its structure ia made out of white Granite and worshipped by many devotees.

Tapovan: Tapovan is popular for its greenery and glorious view of peak. Tapovan is located at 4460m above the sea level.

Surya Kund: Surya kund is pilgrimage spot located near the Famous Gangotri Temple. Devoteed who visit Gangotri Temple also visit the Surya Kund water fall to pay obeisance to the Sun God. The Surya kund is situated on the one side of Bridge and other side is Gauri kund is located of the bridge.

Gangnani: Gangnani is a small town situated 46 kms from Uttarkashi on the route to Gangotri. It is the prefact place for meditation and offered stunning mountain views surrounded near Gangotri. Situated at a distance of 52 km from Gangotri.

Bhojbasa : Situated at an elevation of 3775 mts above the sea level. one can reach by 14 kms trek that starts from Gangotri. It is situated 5 km before Gaumukh Glacier. The Bhagirathi sisters hold the Gangotri Glacier.

Bhaironghati : It is located in the Uttarkashi district of the Indian state Uttarakhand. Situated at a distance of 10 km from Gangotri. The temple is bounded by lush dense forest that makse one can easily reach jahanvi river.


Other Places to visit Near Badrinath

Uttarkashi : Situated at a distance of 93 km from Gangotri with at an elevation of 1352 mts above the sea level. Situated on the banks of the holy Bhagirathi river and Nehru Nistitute of Mountaineering is situated here. The destination is well connected to motorable road.

Kedar lake : This is a beautiful lake and known for its cool wather, trek hill for 18 km. The lake located at an altitude of 4425m above the sea level. Situated at an elevation of 4912 mts above the sea level with the Majestic Thalaysagar Peak Providing captivating scenery.

Dodi Tal : Situated at an elevation of 3307 mts above the sea level surrounding by dense Forest of Deodar, Oak and Rhododendrons and according to mythology lard Ganesha was born at the bank of this lake. The 18 km trek to Dodi tal commences from Agoda and is considered as one of the best treks of Uttarakhand.
